Winnipeg Bike Route Improvements
Here are a few routes that could be alternatives to major routes in Winnipeg:
The North West Passage (Fort Richmond to Bishop Grandin and Waverley)
Here are some of the places the City of Winnipeg needs to provide connection for commuting routes (A wish list):

Lake Albrin Bay to Waverley and Bishop Grandin (although there needs to be sidewalks or paths put in due to the high speed traffic at the intersection).

A tree line shelter belt along Argue Street would help cut down on the North winds making cycling a lot easier up this quiet side street alternative to Pembina Highway.

One of the most important links that needs to be installed in south west Winnipeg. There currently is no link for Richmond West to the grocery store on Bison Drive, making access only along Pembina or Waverley (both high speed, high volume traffic roads).

The most important University of Manitoba to Downtown route improvement that the city could do is linking Riviera to D'Arcy along the Red River. The second is D'Arcy to Sifton (below). Currently, one needs to ride behind a bunch of appartments to use this rogue trail.

The second most important University of Manitoba to Downtown route improvement is to unburden the Southwood Country Club ofa strip of it's Red River adjacent land. I understand from several club members that the Red River is rarely seen while shooting a round anyway. This would get cyclists off of University Crescent - and the high speed inexperienced student drivers found there.
